Dreams from My Childhood

While doing a big clean up today, I have found a “scroll” from my teenage years.  Based on the content of the scroll, I think it’s safe to say it was my fifteen years old self who wrote this list of “My Dreams”.

Apparently, I was supposed to open this scroll on January 9, 2014...Well, I'm about a year and couple of months late.

Apparently, I was supposed to open this scroll on January 9, 2014…Well, I’m about a year and couple of months late.

Unless we’re robots, I’m sure we all have dreams when we were kids.  As I read through the 71 hopes & wishes (there could be more that I have missed, but the last number I have seen is 71)  that I have when I was fifteen, the corners of my mouth unconsciously curved upward before my conscious took over again.  Glancing through the list, it seems that I have completed about one-third of the list.  There are about 50-60% of items on the list that I would still like to complete and probably would be able to in the near future.  Lastly, there is about 10% on the list that I have changed my mind since then.

Ha ha...I have covered up some that are too embarrassing and cringe-worthy to be shown to anyone. I think I will just take those ones to my grave.

Ha ha…I have covered up some that are too embarrassing and cringe-worthy (not that the others are any less embarrassing) to be shown to anyone. I think I will just take those ones to my grave.

Just a bit of reflection here with regards to this silly list:

a) Learning different musical instruments – I have been called out by my high school orchestra teacher on multiple occasions that I was tone-deaf, so I’m not really sure why I was still so enthusiastic about learning different musical instruments.  Well, I know how to play the violin, guitar, and harmonica so far…yea, I’m still a bit tone-deaf.

b) Donate to a charity that I find meaningful and commit to a child sponsorship – Yep, fortunately I was able to do that as soon I got my first part-time job.  Thankfully, I have even surpass my goal and am currently sponsoring three adorable children for about almost two years now (originally, I thought I would only be capable of supporting only two at most).

c) Self-confidence, self-assertiveness, & leadership – I was very shy back then, but not so much anymore (except when I’m in front of the person I like…then, I would become “oddly” shy…and scare away the person @___@).  So, if I travelled back in time right now, I would surprise my fifteen years old self quite a bit.  I would smile (weirdly) and pat my fifteen years old self’s head and say, “You’ll learn the ropes, little girl.”

d) Get a myself a personal swimming pool – WHY?  O___o

e) Writer, writing, publish a book, & be successful – Well, I’m about halfway there with regards to writing (not the successful part).  Good job *giving myself a pat on the back*.

f) Acting, school play, & become a super duper high school student (aka “the high school student syndrome”) – Checked, checked, and checked…despite being shy and all.  Actually, I was about 90% there with the super duper high school student title.  I recalled that I was quite a nervous wreck back then, scared that I might not pass high school and would become a delinquent.  HA!

g) Singing competition – LOL XD  I entered one at one of my high schools (yea, I frequently played the role of that mysterious transfer student) and didn’t win.  My singing gets worse every year, so I’m really just there to make my friends laugh whenever we go for karaoke.  =/ *sigh* the hardship of being tone-deaf.

h) Exercise & be fit – Nope, totally failed this one.  Will keep trying though…after a nap.

i) Travel, meeting a variety of people, and filling up my stomach with cuisines from around the globe – Some small successes here and there.  But meh, this is a lifetime goal.

j) Accountant & being an independent business woman – …*no comment*

Came across this on 9gag again. LOL it just gets me every time.
