In order to drag more people into the world of fanfic reading & writing, I thought of starting this monthly recommendation list. Some of the fanfics I recommend might not be perfect grammatically, but the ideas are interesting. Yes, never underestimate the creative power of teenage fanfic writers (or young writers in general)!! I just list them in a random order:
Sasaeng’s Pen – “…You’ve wasted your whole life stalking someone…” this line comes from the story and I believe it’s a very representative of the story. This story is about a young woman who happens to be one of the many obsessive fans of Baekhyun, a member of the South Korean idol group, EXO. The author is able to bridge the gap between seemingly dangerous obsessed fans and ordinary people like you and I. As I read this, I was like, “Ah…so obsessive fans are not completely insane as I thought they were.”
The Conditions of a Fallen – This is a story about a university student, Kyuhyun, who happens to be…extraordinary (I don’t want to spoil anything else). There are many mysteries that surround him and his friends…and they better solve the mysteries fast before it consume them. I believe people who like suspense, mysteries, and the supernatural would enjoy this one. This is definitely a very unpredictable story.
Ending Plan – A romcom that starts when the bully encounters her victim again at a high school reunion. This is a nice read on a Friday evening or Saturday afternoon. Oh yes, those people who have enjoyed Blair & Dan’s relationship on Gossip Girls would definitely enjoy this one.
Beneath the Powder – Have you ever wondered if true friendship actually exist in the entertainment industry? Well, this story has a take on that topic, in a way. This is one of those “read between the lines” stories. You like friendship? You like bromance? If you have answered “yes” to either question, then you definitely need to check this story out. Actually my brief description here does not do the actual story any justice, so really, please check it out.
You Go First – This is a crack-fic, meaning that it’s just an insane experiment that is meant to be taken with a grain of salt. This is a hilarious one-shot story about a significant age-gap romance between a young lad in his twenties and a elderly woman in her eighties. Love knows no bound.
